Executive Director's Message
The shared vision of the Carver Center Board, the Executive Director, and staff to develop the Carver Center into a model community organization is well on its way to being realized. I am pleased to report that our services have been positively recognized locally, county wide, statewide, and even nationally.
This past year and a half 30 articles were written about the services Carver Center is providing including an honorable mention on the front page of the New York Times.
Our After School Program was filmed for ABC'S Eyewitness News and Michael Boatman from ABC's Spin City came to speak to our youth participants. We created three new programs; Touchpoints, Training Teens for Tomorrow, and the Teen Outreach Program, all of which have been well received and all of which meet dire community needs.
Our puberty education program ("Special Steps") was conducted for all of the 230 6th grade students at the middle school and is now regarded as a best practice model for the county.
Our annual benefit successfully doubled profits two years in a row.Yes, the accomplishments are numerous.
I want to congratulate all of the staff on a job well done. I also wish to thank the members of the board, benefit committee, and other volunteers. They support our efforts through diligent work and fundraising. We cannot however rest on our laurels.
The more we accomplish; the more people need us. We provided services to almost 10,000 individuals, yet our waiting lists continue to grow. The constant pursuit of realizing our vision presents constant challenges. Together we can continue to succeed.
